What's the quietest tire????
Ok, gang, I need to replace the original Goodyear GSC's on my '94. They are old, hard and noisy. If money was no object, which tire is the quietest with a reasonable amount of wear??? I don't drive aggressively so handling is not a factor. I want smoooooth with little noise. What's your choice??

I went with Bridgestone Potenza RE730's when I finally got tired of the GS-C's just not performing. They are a LOT quieter that the GS-C but I think most folks will tell you that almost anything is quieter.
I have some autocrossing and some track use on them and they are an excellent performer for my use. They are an excellent value ($660 for all four delivered from the Tire Rack) for the price.

Watch out on the RE730s though. They are known to develope a nasty howl after breaking in. My friend has them on his GTP and they did it too

I've never run Bridgestone's, but I put Firestone Firehawks sz50EPs on my '93, replacing the GSCs, and they made a HUGE difference in the car. Much quieter and smoother ride. I was surprised at the difference. Probably a lot of good choices, but I'd avoid the GSCs.

The Michelin Pilot Sports are pretty quiet yet still offer outstanding performance. I would do a comparison on Tire Rack's website.

I had BFGoodrich tires on mine when I got it, changed to Firestone Firehawks and the difference is noticable, much quieter and smoother riding.

I have been very impressed with the new Yokohama AVS dB.
They claim it to be the quietest performance tire made.
I cannot imagine anything much quieter after a few months breakin.
No negatives as far as I can tell.

Thanks for all your replies. I've got it narrowed down to the Firestones, Bridgestones, Yokohamas and the Michelins. LOL!!!!! Unless someone comes up with another brand. Decisions, decisions, decisions.......

I have over 5000 miles on my firestone Firehawk runflats and they are stll as Quiet as they were when installed. They are good in the rain and if I bought A new Corvette today I would put the Firehawks on it the first day I buy it. I have talked to people with the FireHawks that stiil like them with over 20,000 miles with no problems. My Goodyears got so bad that I thought something was wrong with my car. They were not even worn all the way when I replaced them. :flag  :D
