Default All kumho mx tire owners, how are they?

For those of you that are running kumho mx tires on your vette, how do you like them and would you buy them again?
Thanks

I had them on my Subaru and even on that they were horribly terrible in the rain. They were OK in the dry, but they are old tech and I can think of at least 3 tires that are cheaper and better in every way than the MX.

I had them on my 97 SS and loved them for the street and did a few HPDE's in them. I'm going to be buying tire soon for the Z but i'm not sure how the front 275/40/17 (stock is 265/40/17) sidewall profile is going to look aganst the 295/35/18 rears.

I had mine for 3 weeks and the ride is like a dream compared to the Goodyears I taken off.

What would those tires be? There might be better tires for a Subaru but for a Corvette with the extra weight and more HP/torque, it is a good tire.

In terms of price, the MX is a good deal and I find them quiet on the freeway and wear is very reasonable for a 220 rating.

True, the MX is not a great rain tire but they will work if you watch speeds and don't push the car hard in the wet. For a street tire, they are a great value.

I have run my MX's (275/40-17) on my 87 for three years now including a number of track days and a few autocross events where wet days keep me from bolting on my Hoosier slicks.

For track days use, they work fine once they warm up but it does take 2-3 laps to get enough heat in them . They are predictable and will let you know when they are driven at their limits. The only bad thing about them is that after the tread is down to about 40%, the compounds that make them a nice sticky tire start to go away. Then you have to be more careful in listening to the tires and how they feel.

They are ok for driving around on but lack dry traction. I would look at the new Kumho SX tire that is just now being released.

dont do it. I had two sets of them early on, but technology has passed them by. Once they get a few heat cycles in them, they get hard as a rock.
Good year GSDc-3s for me and I like them a whole lot better.
