Default "Wheel Rookie" needs help with C5 wheel upgrade

I want to upgrade my wheels (C5 coupe). Currently have stock polished alum. (17's and 18's). I thought wheel size had to be bigger in rear, but I see lots of people running "19's all the way around".

Ideally I'd like the same wheel / tire size all way around (so could rotate tires), can this be done? Any degradation to performance if same size all way around?

Also - if you go to bigger wheel / tire, do you have to recalibrate your speedometer?

If anyone could provide me with "wheels 101 for C5's" guidance, would be much appreciated.

wheels 101 for a C5 Corvette = for normal street use the rear tires need to be 1" taller than the front
