can painted wheels be polished?

Can this be done? I'm just referring to the lip. I'm going to be powder coating a set of polished OEM Speedlines for a Z06. I've got fronts, and still searching for rears. Has anyone done this? Thanks, : John

I stripped a set of factory painted saw blades once. Figured I would just polish them right up. The factory does not finish the surface under the paint at all VERY rough. The paint is a lot thicker than you guess. I finished the job. The wheels look great and I get a lot of compliaments. I will never try it agian.

Thanks for the reply. I have just about decided to polish the OEM rears I just bought. I've found a couple of good posts on the Internet about doing this. My original plan was to powdercoat them. If I don't like the way the polishing turns out, I can still do that.
