Default Did you get your polished rims clearcoated?

Got photos?
Was just talking to our local body shop and he said they can clearcoat polished rims for $100-125 per wheel.
I'm taking a 2nd look at those CCW's!

No... John at CCW advises against it.

1. They look cloudy and may yellow over time.
2. Minor blemishes can be sanded out of un-coated aluminum.

Thanks for the advise
Think I'm gonna go with the Cray wheels. Looks like one of the forum vendors has a good deal going with the Scorpions and Nitto Invos.

Clear coating is less maintenance but i would prefer to polish my wheels and keep them bare.

That was my understanding and the local body shop agreed. CCW wants $200 per wheel for chroming so that drove the price out of my range. I don't want to spend my free time fretting over my wheels so bare finish was out of the question.
I ordered the Crays and they are on my car with the Nitto Invos. They look good and handle very well for the low mileage and lower road temps. Springtime should give me a better idea of the tires performance.

Clear coat will yellow over time and then you have to strip and polish. I put ceramic pad on the Yukon and they pitted the clearcoat.

Wow. I would have never thought of that. Thanks for taking the time to post that.
