I'm not looking for a studded snow tire or anything, but I would like to make better use of my C6 in the winter time on cold dry days. The OEM runflats are just terrible in the cold for traction. Is anyone using a non-runflat that they'd recommend for 20-40 degree weather in the NE United States?
I am only talking about local short 20 to 30 minute trips with almost no highway miles.
Yes, I can drive slower and even more carefully, but I don't get the same feeling of fun that I do in the spring/summer because the car gets loose so easily when its cold out. I would consider getting a 2nd set of tires/wheels/sensors for winter use only and would switch back to my runflats for the spring/summer and/or long trips.
What about a true snow tire? I know it is a weird question, but I want to drive my C6 often and there is always a risk. I tried this week but with the Supercars (Z51), I couldn't even get it out of the garage!
Just a little ice in the driveway and clear roads, but I couldn't get to them.
I am open to new wheels. I was thinking of getting an inexpensive set of wheels in the front wheel size for all four corners (will they fit?). Seems like the smaller tires would be better.
I run a set of Blizzaks on my E55 and they are fantastic. Makes it a true 'winter' car.
