My 02 coupe will be needing at least a pair of rear tires for the coming springtime. The car has GM C5 Z06 wheels with Toyo Proxes T1-S 275/40-17 fronts and 295/35-18's out back.
The front tires are nearly new and the rear tires have probably 4/32 left or maybe less. I think it may be that the Vortech supercharger installed by the prior owner may have caused this difference in tire wear
From what I have found on the Toyo website, this T1-S version is no longer made, having been replaced by the T1-R. This new tire has a different tread pattern. These Toyo tires are pretty loud on the freeway especially when driving next to a jersey barrier. They seem to have decent grip as I have done a couple of fun-type autocross events on them and they did very well.
So the question is, should I dump all of the Toyos and go with a new set or just buy a pair of T1-R's for the back. The road noise is annoying but the performance the tires deliver is fine. Not too terribly concerned with replacement costs but good value is always nice!! The car is not a daily driver so it doesn't see wet pavement a lot unless I get caught in the rain (and in WA, you
do get caught in the rain

) The tires I have are non-runflats and want to stay that way.
Here's what I've considered so far:
Goodyear GS-D3 (similar tread pattern to the current Toyo's I have)
Kumho Ecsta MX (what I use on my 87 for track days)
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (heard lots of good things but no experience)
Other suggestions ??
