Default Dumb C6 Lug Nut Question...

I'm in the process of putting C6 rims on my '98 Z28. I've got the rear spacers to make the 19x10 rears fit and I've got 255/35/18 front tires and 275/30/19 rear tires to work with my stock F-Body tire heights, so I only have one thing left to get and that's the lug nuts.

I have to admit that I've never looked at a C6 close enough to figure this out, so I'm going to have to ask a dumb question. (However, I did try the search feature).

Does the C6 use open ended lugs with chrome lug nut covers, or does it use closed ended chrome lugs and NO lug nut covers? I tried placing a set of my lug nut covers on the C6 rims and they seem to stick out too far, so that's what made me think that maybe chevy either went with a shorter lug nut than my F-Body, or they just did away with the covers all together on the C6.

Thanks in adavance!

Hmmm.....Actually the OE C6 lug nuts have a sheet metal cover.

I replaced mine with these:

That's a solid McGard 64002.

You can see it at:

The stock C6 lug nut "looks" just like that McGard above, but the stock lug nut actually has the sheet metal covering over the steel lug inside.

Edited: I came back here after thinking about what you were asking, and I think I misunderstood. I don't know anything about the F-body wheels, so I can't quite figure out what "covers" you're talking about.

On the F-body is there some piece that you have to take off of the lug nut before getting your socket on it? It sounds like there is, from your question. If that's the case, then the C6 is entirely different. Even though the OE lug nut has a sheet metal cosmetic cover on it, it doesn't come off - it's molded around the steel lug nut and permanently stays on there.

So.....The C6 doesn't have any cover that you take off before you start wrenching on the lug nut.

Yes, the F-Body has lug nuts and then plastic lug nut covers that screw on top of the actual lugs. When I tried them with the C6 rims, the "lugs" seemed to stick out about an extra 1/2" above the rim and it looked a little odd.

However, the lug nut you just posted is what I'm looking for, thanks!
