I replaced the rear spring and now the rear end sits higher and my 235/60/15 look way to small and do not look right will the BFG TA 255/60/15 fit ?
Thanks to All
Be sure you inspect your parking brake bracket at the rear control arm for rubbing onto the inside of the tire. Mine was rubbing bad, so I took a grinding stone on my drill and ground it down about 1/4". I can see some marks where it touches the tire, but did not cut it up bad enough to weaken the tire. I was running Comp T/A R1's however and their section width is smaller than the cheaper BFG Radial T/A's...just take a look to make sure, or put some paint on the bracket then mount wheel and spin it and check for transfer of paint to tire.
To insure clearance on the parking brake bracket, it must be relocated to the top of the trailing arm. Easy to do.
Clearance when going straight does not insure clearance under hard cornering.
If you're running a VB rear spring, check clearance here also.
The 255/60 was an optional tire from the factory and I think standard with the L82/4-speed and gymkhana suspension. As mentioned, watch for clearance at the parking brake bracket.
Also, if you install 255's in the front, you may have to do minor trimming at the lower rear portion of the front fenderwells. The outside edge of the tire may rub on the fender lip. There were some clearance problems that were handled by trimming right on the assembly line when the alloy wheels and 255 tires were installed.
I have Goodyear STs all the way around, 255/60/15. They were a factory option. There are no rubbing issues at all with mine. I also ran the 255/60/15 R1s on mine for auto-xing with no problems, except for cracking the frame :cry
