Default Suggestions for track tires

I posted this in the Autocrossing & Roadrace Forum and haven't gotten much help yet so I'm posting it here.

I have a 99 coupe that I am making into a track car. It has the stock wagon wheels and Pilot Sports right now (stock sizes).

I eventually want to get some CCW wheels but need to spend that $$$$ on other upgrades first.

I need to get some wider tires and better looking wheels.

I am leaning toward 18x10.5 Z06 wheels all around.
Some have suggested going with 17x11 GS wheels to get less expensive tires and more variety. I will eventually get bigger brakes so I think I should go with the 18" rims so I can use them later for rain tires or spares at the track.

What about offset, etc. putting these wheels on the front? Do the fronts need different offset?

Anyway, back to my questions about tires...

What do y'all think about Hoosier R6 compared to Pilot Sport Cups?
Since these will be my primary tires and I may have to run in the rain will the Hoosiers even work on a wet track? (I could keep the stock tires as rain tires)

What about size tires?
Someone suggested 275/35 front and 335/30 rear.
I've also seen that people use 315s on the rear. How much do the 335s stick out of the fend?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm on a budget and don't want to buy some wheels and tires and they not work.

Thanks for the input.

both are crap in the rain! But both stick very very well !! so very good dry coarse choices!

Michelins will last longer and Hoosier USUALLY REQUIRES 11' RIMS !

..as far sizes i run 18 all around 285/30's (cheaper size) V710's

and have two rims for spares ( go to track with 6 tires ) run em till they pop ! hahahaha (cord)

no prob with front end and plenty big for bigger brakes.

z06 rears all around is prob best set up with 315/30's sport cups all around

CAN'T BEAT Z06 Rims LIGHTNESS

in rain you need another set of rims with rain tires!

MY 2 CENTS...G/L !

I have run 275/35/18 Hoosier road race slicks on all 4 corners with OEM Magnesium wheels at VIR............in my 97' and I run it hard. Stuck excellent and you can swap them around to get the most out of all 4.
Big bang for the $$$

Now we are getting somewhere.

I am getting some Z06 wheels from Corvette Garage. They said 10.5x18 (rear Z06 wheel) on front would stick out an inch or so and would not work. He suggested I go with the 9.5x18 on front and 10.5x18 on back. I looked at a friend's Z06 and his front wheels look like they are right at the lip of the fender.

What do y'all think?
I'm going up next week to get them. I can still change sizes.

What do y'all run in the rain?
I was leaning toward the Sport Cups because they have more tread channels/grooves than Hoosiers. You never know when you might get a shower and it looked like a good compromise.

My other thought is to go with slicks and keep my Pilot Sports on stock wheels for rain tires. They are stock C5 sizes.
