C4 Wheel center caps.

Maybe I am posting this in the wrong section, but I'll try here first.

I got a set of the center caps from a guy off ebay. Little disappointed because two of the center caps are not in great shape like I thought.

Question is, has anyone sanded or stripped the C4 centercaps and painted them with any success? I was thinking about trying to sand them and repaint them with ZR-1 or something like that.
Any ideas or thoughts?
