Default Sumitomo HTR Z II feedback wanted

To all,

I'm shopping for new tires for my '01 that currently has Kumho runflats on it. I noticed that Tire Rack has Sumitomo HTR Z II non-RF for $390 plus s/h for all 4 tires in stock sizes. This seems like an unbelievably low price for replacement tires. All the reviews I read seemed to be positive. Anyone out there have any experience w/ these tires - ride, noise, cornering, wear etc. Thanks for any insights.

Well, they're definately worth the money, and they should work fine on a daily driver. I was never one to notice ride or noise differences, but they corner like a cheaper sport tire - very mediocre. I wore 1/2 through the rears in less than 5000 miles, but they fronts did better.

When I read the reviews on tire rack, I always sort by worst rating first. It usually brings up a few negative experiences, and when there is a obvious, repeated problem, then you know what to expect.

Overall, I would only recommend them if you want a cheap street tire to get you around. They do not work well at the track.

We had a full set on our Camaro, and then replaced the rears with drag radials. The fronts seem to be doing very well on our Camaro in 275/40/17 and the car does not seem to push as much into corners, but they wear faster with a more aggressive alignment. Decent tire for the price!
