Default Nitto NT01 vs. 555RII vs. other for street use

I have an 01 C5 coupe with OEM ZO6 wheels and OEM Goodyear F1 supercar tires on it. I have heard some good things about the 555RII road race tires, but haven't really heard much about the NT01 tires. I use my Corvette as a weekend driver mostly. I go to drag race a few times a year and I go autoX a few times a year as well. I also plan on running VIR soon. For the most part the tires will see street driving use, but I would like maximum performance street tires. I drive my vette about 10K miles per year. So with all this in mind what is the best tire for me? Thanks in advance!

Just looking at the pattern, the NT01 will not be as good as the RII in the rain but should be faster in the dry.

I've tried the NT01 on other cars and they are probably the best for the money.

For everything other than VIR I would reccomend the Nitto Rs, the drag radial, but if you intend to do high speed then RIIs are the way to go. You will probably replace them ever year, but they will work great. I would not run the 01s as a street tire on a car that will see rain.

Sounds like the RII would be my best bet. Because I do get caught in the rain once in a while. Thanks for the advice!

you really don't want to get caught in the rain using NT01 but if you have the cash to get a set for the track only you won't be sorry the are great IMOP.

The NT-01 and the R2 each have 100 wear ratings. I just think the R2s are better suited for stock Z06 rims as they come in 275 40 17 and 305 35 18. The NT-01 comes in a 315 30 18 and that will put the smaller diameter tire on the rear. Just something to think about.

Thats why I'm selling my 315-30-18 NT-01s. Extremely quick off of the line (like having a low gear) winding out 4th at .25mi. Fast trap speed.

I've been running the Nitto RII as a street tire the last five years. They totally transform the car's character. I have been through 4 sets of them and am always very happy with their quality, grip, and toughness. They are more quiet than the stock tires and resist punctures better. In total, I have had to repair 5 punctures on the GY F1s (have used EMT and non EMT), against none for the Nittos. The Nittos is also a light tire. I get about 4K miles out of them, but I was not getting any better wear out of the F1s.

Presently on my C6 Coupe, I am running 275 35/18 NT01's up front and 305/35 -18 RIIs on the rear. The tires actually match well together despite being different models. Car is very neutral.
