Default taller tires, can they hide the 4x4 look?

This may be a dumb question but here goes. Will a tire size of 295/40/18 fit on a stock 04 ZO6? Will it rub? I'd like to narrow the tire, fender gap with as little lowering as I can.A 295/35/18 is 26.13 in diam.,a 295/40/18 is 27.29.what do you think?TIA

It should fit fine, the speedo will be off and your gear ratio will be affected. It may fill up the gap, but a large sidewall usually does not look good on C5s unless it is a drag car.
