Default Any truth to hotter road temps' creating more tire wear?

I only got about 20k miles from the GY run-flats on my C5. They wore evenly. I absolutely baby this thing, never race, never smoke'em, etc. I hear of people in cooler climates getting almost DOUBLE the miles. I've heard that the hotter road temp's in Texas are to blame. Any truth to this?
