Default 2000 Rims on old school C3

I have a 79 Vette, and I'm tiring of the stock rims w/ the spinners. I'm looking for a bigger wheel and smaller tire (in terms of sidewall height)-something along the lines of 17x9 or 17x10. I love the look of the 2000 Corvette wheels. What are the chances that these would fit my car w/ a few minor modifications (i.e. having them redrilled for my bolt pattern?). ????

Im not sure what offset would fit but you will need to purchase adapters (like the ones offered by Vette Brakes) because the C4 and C5 wheels have a negative offset your vette uses more of a positive offset (I might have them mixed up C4/C5 wheels stick in C3 wheels stick out). I know it can be done, I have seen 2nd Gen Camaro's with C4 wheels so if they can you can. What you need to do is check how much room you have between the mounting point for the wheel (the drum or disk) and the fenderwell (both inner and outer). From there get the dimension of the wheel you are looking at (ie 17x9.5) and the offset. For expample if you are looking at the ZR-1 type wheel they are 17x9.5 and 36mm or 50mm offset (36 or 50mm back from the centerline of the wheel). That will tell you what spacers you need. Best bet, find someone with a C4 or C5 wheel and do some test fitting (it probably wont bolt up but you can get the idea) then do your measurements from there.

The bolt pattern is the same 5 x 4.75. you would need 3" adapters to get the backspacing correct.
