I still had the original good year run flats. I shopped around for several months before making my purchase. I continued to over look the Firestone wide ovals, mainly due to the price, I figured if they were that cheap that they must not be a very good tire. However, I read all the reviews and spoke to several sales associates. The conversation always seem to turn to the Firestones and after hearing the third sales associate tell me that he would reccomend the less expensive tire I finally broke down and tried them. Well, Im glad I did. Excellent dry weather tire, great performance, great handling, actually even softens the ride, ( I cant speak for wet handling its never been in the rain ). For all you Vette owners that cringe at replacing your tires, expecting to spend in the neighborhood of $1800. These tires are half the price. All I can say is look into this tire before purchasing anything. I think youll be satisfied.
I am buying a set of Kumho ECSTA SPT ultra high performance tires (where do the Asians come up with these names?). Should have them on the CE LT4 in a few weeks.
I have the OEM GY runflats, off car and never used but wanted some drive around tires so thought the Kumhos would be a good choice. I have a 63 Tri TR4 (hence Ameribrit) with a Kumho set since 2004 and they have been great so far, hope they will run as good on the Vette. - we'll see!
