I have a set of repo Z06 C5 wheels and want to put some NT-01 on them Looking at the following size; 315/30/18 for the rear and 275/40/17 for the front. Will this work and the ratio look ok?
The fronts will look fine, the rears will look thin, squatty, and weird. Better option is to go with the 555RII's in 275/40/17 and 305/35/18. Look great, hold on tighter than a pit bull, provide some water drainage, and can be driven on the street if need be. (NT-01 not recommended for highway use) I had the 555's on my car for 10,000 miles. Fronts were fine, rears a little worn (I'm not easy on my car) and got some harder tires to last longer....all I want to do is burn them up and put some 555RII's back on. The only thing that's improved with the new tires is a more compliant ride. (BFG KDW)

Xtreme thanks for the info. I guess the reason for the question is the 520/550 to the ground. I'm trying to find something to help with the grip, hence the 18's and NT-01. Don't know a lot about the RII's how do they grip? Do they make them in 19's?
Well, I run the 17/18 combo with 450hp to the ground, and they grip like a bear on the track. To give you a subjective feel, my instructor took my car out on the track with these tires (stock z06 suspension) and I had to hold on so tight that my wrist hurt for a while after we pitted. I decided right then and there that my car needed better seats + harness over anything stickier (think Hoosier slicks).
They don't make 19's, but that's just asking for rough(er) ride, more likely to damage custom rims, and provides little benefit than making your vehicle perform worse and cost more. My rule of thumb has always been to get the smallest wheels that will accommodate the best tires/brakes. This provides the best ride quality (sidewall height/stiffness) with the best performance (big brakes, if wanted, and soft tread compound).

BigLew,
I just bought the same size for my rears (305/35/18). I dont get my car back till Friday afternoon but I can let you know how they do. I am not expecting anything great but they have to be better than the stock tires.
Hey Roger, good to hear from you. How's the KB doing? So which tires are you putting on? I was thinking the NT-01 or at least the RII's would help. I can't make myself run drag radials.
You going to Richmond on Sat? We have a few guys from G"boro comming up but I don't think anyone is going to race. If you are going give me a call and we'll catch up. thanks, Mike

Mike,
I will be there bright and early. Just doing the show and not racing. The KB is awesome and Jeff is building me a forged motor as we speak. I am adding a new cam and will run 12 to 14# of boost. PM me your number and I will call you when I get up there.
