Default Is 35 LBS Too Much?

I had new wheels installed a few days ago and the guy at the tire store put 35# in. I asked him about it and he said that is what it should have. I had nitrogen put in the tires. Right now I am in Florida and the temps are 80+ degrees during the days. In a few days I will be driving back to Kentucky. Should I let some air out of the tires or wait until I get back to KY and check them in cooler weather? Since he put nitrogen in, should the tires have more or is this too much? I will be dirving about 1000 miles to get home and do not want to hurt my tires!

that seems high. my pressures are usually 28 or 29 cold and move up from there when it's warmer outside or i'm at highway speeds.

As long as the sidewalls list a pressure higher than 35 at max load capacity, the only downside is ride quality. My guess is that the max pressure is something like 44 psi.

Generally, steering response, cornering and hydroplaning resistance all improve with increasing tire pressures.
