Default help with tire size

Hi

I would like to put 18" factory 2004 wheels on the rear of my 96. What tire size should I use to keep the speedo close? Also is there anything I need to modify?

My current size is the standard 285 40 r17. With the Saw blade wheels.

Thx

285 35 18 is right on. I used 275 35 18 on my 95, a bit shorter but not much effect on the speedo.

Your current tire is 25.98" in diameter. On the stock C5 rear wheels you are limited to a 275 or 285 section width tire, unless they are Z06, in which case you can go up to a 295 tire.

275/35/18 = 25.58" diameter
285/35/18 = 25.85" diameter

As aggie88 stated the 285 is almost a perfect match. Your speedometer will be off probably by like 0.5 mile at most.

Hi

thx for the sizes. The local tire Guy thought that 275 40 r18 was also an option what do u think.

For a C5 not a C4. That tire has a 26.66" diameter. While it will work, your speedometer error will be greater with that tire. Personally I would stick with a 285/35/18 tire.
