Does anybody have a suggestion for the best option in replacing tires for my '94 vette? Every tire dealer in Milwaukee has their own opinion on what to buy..I am leaning towards Goodyear Eagle F1's, they seem to look the best, but I have heard some stories about limited tread life, expect only 15-18,000 miles. Other possibilities are Michellin Pilots, Cooper Zenon's, Kuhmo ASX, Firestone Firehawk, and Goodrich G Force. Lots of options and price differences, help!!!
You don't mention what sizes you're looking for, but IMHO tires are not a place to try and buy the "cheapest" you can find. Out of the choices that you mention I would go with Michelin Pilots or GY GS-D3s.
Fronts are 255/45/17, backs are 285/40/17.
I can get a set of GY GS-D3's installed for $920.
Cooper Zenon II's for $600. Michellin's are running about $1,100.
The only reasons I hesistate on the Goodyears are some of the tire dealers I have talked with say they haven't worn well over time and for occasional weekend driving the Cooper's may be a better fit.
Tough call, but I will probably spend the extra $300 for the Goodyears and have fun looking for curves...
Thanks for the input, I had the new Goodyear F1 GS-D3's put on the car today...WOW Great tire, incredibly better ride, unfortunately had to drive home in rain but they felt great..what a difference!!
