Default wax new wheels before mounting tires?

Might be a dumb question, but I just received a set of new wheels (machined face w/black inserts Z06). I seems to me I should probably give them a good coat of wax before mounting the tires. Anything else I should do?

Actually you should probably wait until after mounting the tires. The installer will probably get the lubricant used to mount the tires all over the wheels anyway. Wait until you get them back, give them a good cleaning and then wax them. That's what I'm doing with my new wheels. Hope to get the tires mounted tomorrow.

Default Wax your wheels

I like to wax the whole wheel BEFORE getting tires mounted. There is noway to wax the inside of the rim after tires are mounted and the wax coating will provide a limited amount of protection from the tire machine and mechanic. Also, with a wax coating the bead slides over the rim a little eazier @ install time. If you have the option to wax your wheels before mounting your tires, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose!
