Default 26" or 27" ET Streets for Z06?

Did some grinding work today and got a 16x8 4th-gen Camaro wheel to fit on the back of my '02 Z06. Now I'm considering getting a pair of ET Streets to go on them.

27x10.5-16 or 26x11.5-16 or 26x10.5-16?

Or maybe the new 255/50-16 Hoosier drag radial would work also?

I'd like to run the 26" tires for a little better 'gear', but I'm not sure if it will throw my ABS into fits since I have 275/40s on the front. Would I need the 27" tires in back to not get abs codes? These would only be used at the track.

Thanks,
Kris

No problem here running the 26" ETStreets on my '99 with ABS and traction control.

I am currently looking for a set of 27" ETstreets because I want to change my "gearing" just a bit. I have a 4.10 rear end and it is just a bit too much I think. You should be fine with the 26" streets, with the power and times you have.

Next time I am up to Rock Falls, I want to see your car run. With some good sticky tires, you should do real well.

Thanks for the info.

Are you selling your 26" ET Streets? Or have you already sold them?

No still have them. I will probably hold on to them until I figure out if the 27" tires were the right move.

I will let you be the first to have a shot at them when I do decide to sell them. Will probably not happen any time to soon though. I will also keep an eye out for a set for you either way. You say you already have the rims, just looking for the tires?

Yes, I am getting a pair of 16x8 '98 Camaro wheels sometime in the next few days. I'm researching 16" tires now.....255/50-16 M/T drag radials or Hoosier drag radials, or 26x10.5 or 11.5 ET Streets, or.....well, I don't know yet.

Well, first I got a question for ya. I am assumimg you have your radial tires up front yet.

Have you ever run a bias-ply tire on the back with radials up front before?

If not, be aware of the "loose" feeling you will get as you hit 80+mph going down the track with bias-ply tires on the back (being the 26x 10.50/ 16).

Besides, .....
.......(1) the run out on all 3 tires you are thinking about is the same.
...(2) you will need to buy tubes with the bias-ply tires (added cost of around $125)
....(3) all 3 tires cost about the same (except for the added tubes on the bias-ply)
and ......(4) I have heard great things about the MT ETStreet radials as far as traction.

I would say go with the MT ETStreet radial in the 255-50--16 size. I think you will like them. I would buy them if they had a 27" diameter, as, lke I said before, that is where I think I need to be.

I have heard talk about a 295-50-16 size coming out later this year. I am kinda holding off until then.
I recently had John Boos do some work on my car and need to break it in slowly, so I would be ready for the track until mid summer anyway. I will catch up with you at Rock Falls then and let you make a run with my new tires (and old for that matter) to see if you like them. You will probably have new skins yourself by that time, but we'll get together then anyway.

See ya at the Rock.
