Default Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals

My '95 coupe needs new tires, just spent a heap on parts from MAM, and I'm not done yet. I've read some reports on a few different brands, these Wide Ovals are in my price range. They did well in the test included on Tire Rack's site. Is there anyone here running them? Any opinion to offer?

I ordered a set from TireRack last week for my02 Z06. They'll be installed sometime this coming week. They are for daily driving and possibly wet track day tires. It's damned hard to beat the price.

Check in the C4 and C5 sections and you'll find a bunch of threads on them. For the most part they get good feedback.

Just posted a reply about the FS's on another thread:
Once my GY F-1's wore out, I put some Kumho 710's on for track days, and bought some WO's for what little street driving I still do. Just for the heck of it, I decided to try the WO's out on the track and was pleasantly surprised at how well they performed, and I can't seem to wear them out! I wore out a set of GY F-1's in 4 track days, and my WO's have at least 8 days on them so far and they are just past half-worn! Amazing wear....great feedback....and much quieter than the GY's were. Plus, you can't beat the price!

Ordered a set from Luke on Monday, they were delivered on Wednesday!

Winter weather advisory today, 5" to 7".

It'll be a couple weeks(wishful thinking) before I can get 'em on.
Gettin' anxious, sittin' here watching it snow. But, when she goes in, it's tires, alignment, Corsa Power Pulse, then down to the tinter, and a complete exterior detail. The body shop owes me, I got a 6-pointer, an 8-pointer, and the biggest doe I've ever seen last year. Two of them ran into the driver's doors, got one between the headlights, and all with different trucks. I got more venison than most of my friends, and I don't hunt!

I researched the tires I wanted and was looking at the Bridestones, B F Goodrich, Goodyears and Firestones. I ended up buying the Firestone wide ovals. They are similar to the Bridgestones yet considerably cheaper. They handle well, replacing an aging set of Goodyears I had on there. The first thing I noticed was the grip on cornering. Great wet weather tire as I have full confidence I wont be sliding around. I also autocross but there seems to be some room for improvement there in both the tires and my driving ability. They dont squeel through the turns and I like that. I paid $144 each plus mounting an balance at a local Firestone dealer. They matched the price I brought them from an online competitor. Needless to say, I'm getting plenty of bang for my buck as I use them on both road and track. I would do it all over again if I had to. No complaints out of me. Good luck with whatever you choose. I didn't want to sport an import name on my tire sidewalls, not that those tires are bad. I want an all american looking car hence no Toyo, Kuhmo, Yokohama, Michelin etc.....

make sure you ask for luke or they will not sale them to you. I tried last week the salemans pissed me off so I got them cheaper from local firestone and save on the shippng cost. Check first because tire rack is not giving us the best deal out there. Just my $.02 worth.

I bought a set this past weekend and should be having them mounted this week! I'll post some comments after I have a week or so on them. However, use the search feature and there are a couple of really nice write-ups already out there!

I just bought a set of WO's.... haven't received them yet, but for daily driving or wet track days appeared to be the way to go... I really liked the price...

I also just bought my 4th set of Nitto RII's... great DOT track tire, just don't last long. Even if the tread is not all worn down, after too many heat cycles the tires get slippy.

My, $0.02
