2000 Vert - 15k miles

I am looking to get a new set of tires (Yes I am still running on the runcraps) and want to move to something that #1 not going to break me and #2 going to give me the handling that I know that is capable with this automobile.

Second, I have heard that the runflats get harder as they get older, is this true and is this why I am not impressed with the handling. (The slightest bump feels like huge bumps and the worn areas of the interstate where the "grooves" are in each lane caused by 18-wheelers make the car feel caught in the ruts)

Any more suggestions are grately appreciated. You guys are great!

R-)

I believe runflats have a stiffer sidewall = harsh ride. Maybe slightly heavier too. As far as grabbing the rutts in the road , any wide tires will do this, the wider the front the worse it gets! I switcthed from 275/40-17 in front to 245/45-17 and tracts much better! Got these with a set of c5 wheels for my '89. Maybe not the ultimate for high speed cornering but are fine for "spirited " driving and everyday use. They talk about this tracting issue a little in the C4 spec book.

So is it better to get run-flats for your corvette or go just with a high performance all season tire? What are the real advantages and disadvantages of each?
