Default Wheel/Tire question

I have a Z06 17/18 stagger. Thinking about going 18 all around and keep the 40's in the front and 35's in the rear. I know I have seen this done but are there any problems running this setup? Thanks

Why would you want to do that? What does the aspect ratio have to do with it? I would recommend going to an 18x9.5" wheel up front with a 275/35/18 tire and keep your stock size in the back. This way the AH and ABS will be happy.

So going with 18' s and 35's all around I lose 3/4" up front and my car will be happy? Thanks

If you go with 265/35X18 front and 295/35/18 rear you will keep that approx 1" stagger that the car has when it rolls out of Bowling Green.

I think we have talked about this before. We are both trying to do the same thing.

The 265/35x18 diameter is 25.3"
The 295/35x18 diameter is 26.1"

Additional info:
The 275/35x18 diameter is 25.6

I am going to go with the 18x9.5 front and 18x10.45 rear wheels and the 265 and 295 tires

We have been PMing back and forth. Thanks for the info, I guess one of us has a positive direction to go in. I am calling John at CCW tonight and see what package he can come up with for me. Have a good one and thanks again.

You can go either way 265/35/18 or 275/35/18. The car already understeers from the factory so uping the front to a 275 series tire may help in that department a little bit. As far as keeping the front to rear stager anything from 0.5-1.0" is a safe range.

Just out of curiosity, why conservative on the wheel size? I mean if you're spending the cash for new wheels/tires, why not get the biggest you can?

I have new CCW SP16s, and have 18x10 up front with 285/35/18 and 18x11 in the rear with 305/35/18. Personally I don't like the way the 295/35/18 tires slant in on an 11' wide wheel. I wouldn't go less than 305.

Just my .02

I am buying 18x9.5 and 18x10.5, you are asking me why I am being conservative on the wheel size.???? I am buying wheels that are ½" narrower than you did?

I guess I should ask you the same question, "I mean if you're spending the cash for new wheels/tires, why not get the biggest you can?"

If you feel that bigger is better then why did you only buy 18" wheels? Why not put some 19x11 in the rear, especially if you're buying John's CCW wheels, then put some 315/30x19's in the rear.
Or better yet, 19's on all four, or even 20 and 19's??????

I personally do NOT want to spend $2600+ for wheels, so that is my reasoning and I am putting my 295's on 10.5" wheels so the problem you say about a 295 being too narrow on the 11" wheel won't be a problem for me.

That's my $.02

Glenn

Actually, you're right on the mark, and you're right on my comments. That is a more accurate depiction of what I meant. Just my opinion. But that's just for me. I do feel (and this is just me) that biggest/widest possible is best. For me, it wasn't about appearance, (althought I do think John makes the best looking/functioning wheels for the price on the market).

As for why I went with 18" all around is the fact that with my HP level, I wanted a drag radial in the rear for the street, to ensure good traction. To date, no tire manufacturers make a DR in a 19". So, I was stuck with 18". Didn't want an 18r x 17f combo, so I was left with 18" all around as my only option. If the DRs weren't a hard requirement for me, I likely would have gone with a 19"r & 18 or 19" front. 20's look a little over the top for me.

PS. I would have went with 315s in the rear if Nitto would have made them. I have 315's on my LPE Camaro, (on CCW Classics) and they look saweet.
