Default Need new tires... what are the least expensive...

I have a 2000 coupe... no posts with "no money for tires... your crazy for buying a c5".... I do a lot of burn outs, hence I dont need to spend the money on tires like it grows on trees... but I need a tire with good traction for city driving without comprimising performance.

Honda Civic tires are pretty cheap

the Kumho Ecsta MX is pretty much the best "bang for the buck"

Firestone Wide Ovals might be worth a look as well.

Default most inexpensive tires worth looking at

Kuhmo SPT
Firestone Wide Oval

Considering which one to buy myself for my C4. Kuhmo's are much less expensive.

Kuhmo (For set 285/40 17 & 255/45/17) $488/delivered via Tire Rack, plus the mounting and balancing.

Firestone Wide Ovals about $750 for set (out the door).

Im leaning to the Kuhmo's because the price is fantastic, everything I read say it's a pretty good tire - It took Kumho 4 years to develop it as successor to the 712's. Every one loves the Kuhmo ASX all seasons which are rated just below the SPT's for all around performace.

Take a look at Falken FK451 also. About the lowest cost. Combined dry/rain tire. It won't compete with a GY F1 SC but they're pretty good for the price. A friend autocrosses his 99 coupe with them due to the price. They won't keep up with a GY F1 SC but they're half the price...

I have these on my C5. I got them at America's Tire for $625 out the door. I have only put about 500 miles on them since that time. I don't have any complaints so far. I don't track or race my car and did not see any reason to spend big dollars on tires. Good luck with your choice.
