Default Will They Stick Out?

This might be a dupe (many times over) post but can someone tell me if I put 18X11 wheels on the back of my 86 coupe, will the tires stick out form the fenders? It seems the only direct fit wheels I can get for my car are A mold ZR1 style and I would like 18's on the back. Also, if I use the wheel adapters to put 88-96 rims on my car, will that allow me to put ZO6, Y2K, C6 ZO6,etc on my car?

Thanks in advance

Bob

If you use the correct adapters you should be able to use wheels designed for the 88-96 w/o any problems. I use 18x10.5" wheels w/ 295/35/18 tires in the back of my '94 and they don't stick out at all.

depends on backspacing and offset, usually you need (I think not positive) 45+ offset or they will stick out, more offset from center they are tucked in more to a point before you rub inside. On my 95 I run a 11 wheel with a 305 tire, no rubbing and it doesn't stick out but is flush with the fender

Size questions

I have an 86 vert, and what I think I know is...

If I'm wiling to go with spacers, I can use any/all corvette rims, except for zr1. They all have the same bolt pattern.

I would need 3/4 spacers due to my (38mm) offset.

I can go with 18s all around.. (no rubbing)
A Good size is to go with would be 18x9s all around, to allow for rotation.

If you go over 18s, tire prices goes UP, and it dosent enhance ride quality that much more.

Please correct any misconceptions, and throw me out some food for thought. Im trying to learn what I SHOULD know Gettin' tired of the sawblades, but rubbers good, and they polish clean, so Im not in a rush.
