I guess it depends on the manufacturer. Some say a 9.5" wide rim is ok while others call for a 10" wide rim.

I have a 285/30/18 in a Michelin on front of my Vette on a 9.5 inch wheel and it fits perfect and square with the wheel. I also have a 285/35/18 on a 9.5 inch wheel on my front of my Trans Am and it fits perfect also. It is a Pirelli. Factory put 285/40/17's on 17x9.5's on the rear of 93-96 vettes.

The 285 came stock on the C4's mounted on a 9.5" wide rim.
It will work just fine for you.

Go for it. I had no problems with 295-35 MX's on the same size wheels.

How does that 285 run up front if on the street, wouldn't it really track all the ruts?
