Why do you think GM engineers chose the goodyear GSC tires for the late C4s?? These tire's assymetric thread design makes the car slightly pull to the side while driving, plus they are noisy and more expensive than other tires that perform just as well or better, so I dont think that cost was the issue. What do you think?

GM has used goodyear for a while. You also have to remember goodyear went out and designed tires just for the Vette with the gatorbacks and continued with the GSC's and now the tires on the ZO6.
I have used Goodyear tires for a long time and have always liked them. I recall back in the 50's when Firestone had the best tread design for snow tires with the Town and Country. Then in the mid 70's Firestone came out with their "Eagle" radial tire. The steel belts came out of the tire and they flew apart. I had a set on my big 429 Ford and Firestone refused to make good on them. I had a Firestone tire come apart while driving it then and the steel wire was sticking out all over on the tire. I did not loose control and just changed the tire. Those were the last Firestones I ever bought.
I have been running the Goodyear Regatta tire on our passanger cars for a long time. They are excellent. Now I have the GSC's on the 92 Corvette and I have the benefit of the Goodyear quality that I trust with my life.
There may be better tires than Goodyear. But only a fool would trust Firestone/Bridgestones management.
When these GSC's get worn out I will replace them with new Goodyears or maybe BF Goodrich.
