my 2001 C5 still has the original run flats on it (18 000). The ride is crap and they don't seem to handle well - it becomes rather unsettled over bumbs.
I have owned it for 1500 miles and have now managed to remove enough rubber so that I can justify replacement.
What is a good compromise between handling and comfort?

Also what would be the cost.
Thanks
Tyres? y'ain't from these here parts, are ye? Kumhos offer some nice tires that perform and ride well at very good prices. Check Tire Rack in the links on the left side of the pages here. Very good info on many types of tires as far as specs, performance, etc. Also very good prices if you decide to buy from them.

I like the car though, apart from the **** tyres/tires.
Will have a look at the links.
Thanks
Man, that's a place I hope to see someday. Y'all are just like us, a bunch of damn European renegades that decided to start a country. Welcome to the forum mate and drink a pint for me!
Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval from ExpertTire, if they have a store in your area. It is a good bang for the buck tire and ExpertTire beat everyone else's price on it where I live.
The Firehawk Wide Oval is supposed to be the next gen version of their discontinued SZ50 high perf tire.
Welcome! I've been there! Sydney and Melbourne, Fabulous. Yes, I do wish you had a TireRack there.
Silly question: with a C5 why are you posting on the C4 forum, not that we don't love you. And not that we don't know FARRRRRRR more than the C5ers (just kidding guys and gals at C5). We are very very friendly, maybe unlike others, eh mate?
Any way, good luck with the tyre search.
Note: to KidNC- well, not all of us....from European stockage, that is.......but 110% Amur-icun, in addition to the all-Amur-icun Corvette!
(BTW, its not a case of C5 envy... the chrome is coming off my sawblades and tires won't seal... I picked up the set of 4 in very good condition for $200...)

I was just speaking of those who generally originated both countries (not counting those who were a there) you know, we eurotrash! Obviously there are many here now from all over, all to the good. And it's okay to say we know more than the C5ers.... since we do!
Oh please NC; no such thing as eurotrash, or any other kind. If there were, we're all it! No offense taken or implied by me. Love my car. And C4 forums. Now, if someone wanted to give me a C6 Z06...........................geez, I'd have a hard tme saying "no".
Just put Michelin Pilot Sport 2 on my 2002 Coupe. Great tire. Very expensive but I always wanted Michelin tires and the reviews have been very positive on the new PS2's. I can't compare with other tires.
Have heard good things about the new Toyo T1-R tires but could not get them in standard size here in time for this season.

Low-section tires such as are used on the later Corvettes are not going to provide much in the way of comfort, so you are stuck with choosing between performance and price.
Almost any brand name tire, in a Corvette size range, is going to give you good results....just pick one you think looks cool.
