GM OEM Magnesium wheels questions????

Just a few questions on GM magnesium wheels. 1. Are they made of magnesium? 2. Any benefit other than looks when compared to 2000 forged, painted wheels? 3. Good price for a used set? TIA

2. Lighter, less rotating weight
3. Haven't checked recently, but I would guess $800-1000.

3. I believe they were a $1000 option when new.

3. The price actually varied over the years. I'll check my Black Book if I remember, but the first year they were like a $3k option. In subsequent years the price was dropped to $2k. Don't know if they ever lowered it to $1k.

My original window sticker lists them as GM option for $2k. The car is a 2000 Convertible.

I lurked ebay for months looking for good deal on wheels for my '90 and saw several sets of these go for $500-$800, used of course.
