Default can I use rear rims from 85 vette on an 01 vette?

I have a 2001 A4 coupe. I recently went to the track and ran a 13.5@104mph with a crappy 2.2 60' time so I am interested in getting some stickier tires. I have a set of wheels from an 85 vette that I used to own. I was thinking of gettin some BF Goodrich drag radials for these wheels to use on my C5 at the track. Is 255/50/16 the best size tire for me to use? Will these wheels even mount up and how much height difference is there between my stock wheels/tires compared to a 16" wheel/tire combo? I'm just kickin around some ideas. Thanks in advance!

probably hit the calipers, stick out past the wheelcut, and look pretty ugly...All you gotta do to find out is try to hang one of the wheels on the car without the tire

Some early C4 wheels made by Enkei may fit in the rear. Those wheels were found only on the Z51 or Z52 cars. The offset on the early wheels is 38mm and the new wheels are around 56mm. That difference will cause the wheel to stick out around 3/4" there could be some interference between the tire and the lip of the wheel opening once tires are installed.

A better choice would be a pair from an 88 or later C4. They will have a better offset (56mm) and be 9.5x17 in size. You should be able to find a pair fairly cheap on eBay or in the C4 Parts For Sale section. You can alsosellyour wheels there or look for a swap.
