Stock REAR wheel comes with a 275/45/18 tire. Will a 295/45/18 tire fit the wheel well w/o causing "sensor problems" with ABS, and causing of other computer lights/sensors to come on.
The oversided tire will measure 28.31 inches tall vs 26.61 for stock .... and 11.54 wide vs 10.91 for stock.
Tire mounters tell me not to try this .... say electronic on dash will light up with warnings. Are they right ?
This tire is too tall and will cause problems. The stock C5 rear wheel is a 275/40-18 not 275/45-18. The second number (40) is the side wall height as a percentage of the width (275). So as you go wider you must decrease the second number to keep the tire about the same diameter. Otherwise traction control is going to get upset.
On stock C5 rear rims the two choices larger than stock are
285/40-18 which have a 26.97 diameter vs. 26.66 stock (+1.15% diff)
295/35-18 which have a 26.12 diameter vs. 26.66 stock (-2.03% diff)
I recently switched to the 295/35-18 using Toyo Proxes T1-S and what a difference from the worn out run craps. For the front I went with 265/40-17. i.e. I went with the stock C5 Z06 tire sizes on stock C5 rims.
If you go with the 285/40-18 a well mated front is the 255/45-17. Both of these are within the manufacturers tolerance for the rim width. The tire sizes that I went with call for rims 1/2 inch wider than C5 stock, but many forum members are not having any problems with this.
