Hello,
Recently I went to Discount Tire to get a quote for rear tires for my C5. I was given two quotes, one for Discount Tire and another for Tire rack. After adding all the charges , quote was lower with Discount Tire.
Is this true. Am I missing something. I have read earlier from the threads that Tire rack is cheaper.
It seems to depend what you are looking for....
Also check our Sam's club and Costco
They will both special order from their suppliers and both give mount, lifetime balance/rotation and road hazard for $10 !
So shop around.....
I have bought from Tire rack a number of times because they had the best price. their delivery is fast and their service is unbeatable.
But you owe it to your self the comparison shop.
Sometimes its not just the price that should be the deciding factor. Remember the person that posted his horror story about the tires that he bought from some on-line place? I like to buy from a place that I know will take care of any problems and I like a place to have a good price. However, I wouldn't think too hard if the difference was that much more; what's the catch? I ordered a set of PS2's from Tire Rack today. I checked on prices for the GY SC's and tire Rack was within a few bucks of other places. Wal*Mart wanted about $125 more for the set, not that I would let a Wal*Mart "tech" do tire work on my Z06. The GY stores were way more, like ridiculously more. No one could give me prices on the PS2's because it wasn't a tire that they carried (to me that means special order & super special big bucks)
When I bought my PS2's for my ZO6 from Discount tire, they ordered them from Tirerack! Discount did not have them in stock, so they called up Tirerack and ordered them. I got the same Tirerack price, but the Discount install and warrantee.
I drive 20,000 miles a year. It was between the PS2 and F1. My original F1s lasted 25,000 miles, but they were pretty hard by then. So far the PS2s are very quiet compared to the F1s. They also stick much better, but remember my F1s were old and hard. I do notice a little more squirm than the F1s due to the deeper tread on the new tires. I only have about 1500 miles on them so far, so ask me again in the fall when I have ~10,000.
