Default Your thoughts on my newest wheel design...

I was looking to get a custom wheel built for my GTO so I looked to my friend Chris Coddington and we came up with a design. I wanted smooth & clean...and light. We got it. Now Im curious what you think.

Dont pay attention to the lip size...these were built for a GTO with huge brakes. Larger lips, and widths are obviously easily attained. Heres a few pics and a quick photochop

Very nice! Just make them affordable.

While they are a nice looking wheel for sure, so are the dozen or so nearly identical wheels already on the market.

If you're going to have a custom-designed wheel made up, why not make them different?
Go back to the board...the automotive world is already overloaded with 5-spoke wheels.

I agree. What happen to wheels with some depth to them? The deep dish type. I am looking for something different but having a hard time finding anything except 5 spokes.

The "deep dished" wheels that we all grew up with and loved so much, are now obsolete. Improved handling, through "zero scrub radius" as well as decreased wheel bearing loads are now a priority. That's why most wheels are now FWD style.

Look at the bright side, at least the wheels are now W-I-D-E. Way back when, when I had my '71 Chevelle SS, the guys at the speed shop laughed when I tried to find 8" rims that would still stay under the fenders. Today even those are a dime a dozen!

Unfortunately, this is all too true.
While the modern, flat-faced wheel is functionally superior, it still will never look as cool as the old-skool deep dish wheel.

Back then, deep dish meant "serious".

Still does, to some extent; an extra-wide wheel will still, by necessity, have more dish than a narrower wheel, if you want to keep your offset correct.

How about designing a six-spoke wheel with the appearance of dish. I know this is possible; I've seen aftermarket wheels with a center section that curves back, leaving several inches of rim showing. They still have the correct offset, but have the deep-dish look.

Five-spoke wheels are blasé. I'd love to see a 17- or 18-inch version of the old Centerline Auto Drag wheel...in 9-, 10-, and 11-inch widths.
Any takers?? I'd buy a set in a heartbeat.

I think they look great!

Make them as light as possible (while staying strong) and price them reasonably

Looks nice, if perhaps a bit generic. Perhaps a little groove cut in the face of the spoke?? While some folks will want something substantially different, there's a reason why it is a classic design. Now make it w/o the vette tax !!
