I wanted to let everyone know how I got screwed by Dr. Tires. This guy sells used street tires on eBay.
I saw that most of his tires were auctioned in sets of two. Since our cars have offset sizes, I emailed him directly asking for the appropriate sizes. He had them in Kuhmos, saying the fronts had 70% tread life and the rears had 60% left. We agreed on $300 shipped.
Sounds like a good deal, huh?
It was until I received the tires. The rears were almost bald, and one of the fronts had a tear in the bead that went down to the steel belt.
I emailed him with my concerns as his claimed return policy says "If you are unsatisfied with your tires you may return them back for a full refund. Buyer must pay for shipping."
To make a long story short, he has refused to respond to any of my emails? I was very polite too! How do I know he got the emails? I emailed him using my other account asking for tires. I got quick responses wanted to sell me tires!
Please stay away from Dr. Tires. I was unable to leave negative feedback, as these were not purchased through eBay. Also, my complaint to Paypal was worthless.
Please take the time to drop this guy a line drtires@cox.net letting him know that he can't screw with one of us. I would greatly appreciate this guy knowing that he lost business over a $300 deal that he obviously could care less about.
How about a little help here? I helped out when one of our members got screwed over by onlinetires.com. After a bunch of emails, they made it right. They wouldn't have though unless we had participated.

$300 for 2 used Kuhmos
Just go buy new!
Sorry to hear of your woes. Its buyer beware. If you harrass them enough they will eventually honor their statements. Unfortunately its the "squeaky wheel gets the oil". SCREAM LOUD!
Where did your Paypal payment come from (checking, CC, etc.) Hopefully CC, so you can dispute charge. Paypal will be of NO help. They could care less. They honored their end of the bargain (in their eyes).
Hell, I'd send the tires back and demand they honor their statements. Threaten to sue them! Its your fight, you take the offensive!
What was the split of the purchase price (i.e. - cost of tires vs. cost of shipping)? From the way the word their return policy, you will be out the shipping to you AND the shipping back to them. Unfortunately I'll bet this total is more than you will get back in a refund. You will probably be screwed with shipping costs.
I got four tires for $300 shipped. Believe me, I never would have paid that much for two used tires. I can get them new for that.
I don't want to send them back yet. Dr. Tires won't even respond to my emails asking for some resolution. It's funny that they respond quickly though when I send them an email from another address asking for tires.
If I send them back, he'll just sell them again and keep ignoring me. Then where am I?
Oh, and my Paypal comes right out of my checking. Paypal is worthless for complaints. They don't deal with "quality issues."
You're right about the used tires. Not a lot of us buy them. I only bought them because I'm trying out autocrossing, and I don't feel like tearing up my EMT's. I also didn't want to spend the full amount for a set of new tires just to find out that I really don't want to continue with the events.
My next set of street tires will be run-flats as well, so I would have wasted money on new non run-flat tires.
Thanks for emailing though. At least they're getting some pressure about this deal.
I've heard nothing from them, and I probably won't.
DocTires,
WOW! Are you getting blasted on the corvette forum. There's a big market for used tires among auto-crossers and drag racers who are now having second thoughts because of your treatment of Toolman44092. Tires were NOT as described. You should do the right thing and do a refund including shipping.
Regards,
Vince
I just left Ebay looking at some of his Michelin 335/30/18's and came here and found this. It's not worth the risks. Thanks for the warning, I almost bid!!!!!!!!!!! David
