Kumho vs. Falken??

I have been looking for a new set of tires for my stock 92 Coupe. I thought I was was pretty much decided on the Kumho MX 712s util I found some references to the Falken ZE-512. The Kumho's seem to be know for short tread life while the Falkens have a much higher tread rating.
Anyone have any experience with the Falken tires?

I had a set on my old 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z and they were great back then. Things can change though.

Hankook K104s have also been mentioned to me.

Actually the 712's tread life is a long tread life.

I put a set of the Hankooks on the Cobra before it was traded in. They are nice tires. If they come in Z06 sizes that is what I will be getting. The wet traction was a lot more than I expected and the dry traction was great.

Very happy with the tread life of my 712's haver never tried Falkens.

There are Kumho 712's...and there are Kumho MX's. They are quite different tires, so which is it?

Absolutely right. When I called on pricing I asked for the 712s and they gave me the Ecsta MX name instead. Didn't think to verify it until you mentioned it. Comparing on Tirerack.com, the specs seem pretty close with the MX having slightly higher numbers, including price.

I have the NON-runflat Kuhmo MX's on my 98' and I really like them. The only beef I have is that they vibrate a little until they are warmed up. I like these enough that I am probably going to be putting some 712's on my 89' coupe. The reason I am going to put 712's on the 89' is that it is driven less agressively and has less power than the 98 so 712's will work fine and cost less.

I have the Falkens on the vette and like them a lot. I have Kumho on the LS there ok.
