Default [Review] Futura Ultra Z Tires

The Futura Ultra Z's are supposed to be Pep-Boys' "best high performance" tire. A set of 255/50zr16's were on my '85 when I bought the car in October. Since they were practically new, I figured I would wait to change them out and save up for some really good tires. This was probably a mistake on my part. The make-up of these tires must have little actual rubber and mostly plastic because they have horrible traction. I thought I could deal and just complain until spring but I got a wake up call Saturday evening. I was driving home northbound on I95 and while taking the ramp onto the beltway, my rear lost traction and I did a 180 . I managed not to slam into the concrete on one side or the guardrail on the other. The temperature was in the low 40's/high 30's, dry roads and I had been on the road at highway speed for at least 20 minutes so the tires should have been warmed up. I went back the next day to look for skid marks. There weren't any.

I can't recommend these tires unless you just want to do alot of burnouts and not have to change your tires very often. They will probably last 100k miles.

I placed an order for new tires with Luke today and I bought a set of 17"s yesterday. I don't really have the money but you can't put a price on safety. I suppose I could change my driving habits
