AFS ZR1 17x11 rims
I have a pair of AFS ZR1 17x11in rear rims. I used these on my 1999 Camaro SS. they don't fit over the brakes on my C5z with a BBK kit I am asking 300 + shipping for the pair

check out this fairly brilliant scheme i got caught up in:
1. bsalie99 posts legit items for sale
2. Vikingtrad3r replies on public forum saying “ill buy them and sending a pm”.
3. Greywills, who is scammer and who is monitoring the buy/sell SENDS ME A PM before bsalie99 does. here is screenshot:
check out the username and the damned warning too!!!
4. Me, having looked at bsalie99 ‘s user account i think i can trust them, AND being preoccupied/busy see the reference to the items being advertised in that pm, engage in the text discussion NOT WITH BSALIE99 BUT WITH THE SCAMMER who has username Greywills and i send them money.
boom. meanwhile, bsalie99 may be completely unaware.
****. i got totally scammed!!!! im am an idiot!!!!

it started with the way the communication went.
then he had multiple other items to sell. c5 calipers, qa1 shocks, and viking dual adjustable shocks, i asked for pictures and it took a while to send me pictures. the viking pictures were copied from a 2015 post, and pasted into a text. the “c5” calipers we’re suddenly c6z06 pics.
i called the number and it just drops.
then we found this post reporting the same number that i had been communicating with but with a different username.
clearly these f—cks have hacked old accounts (and also setup new) and are using them to scam. (member since 2015 with 500posts)

so dont be like me. MAKE SURE you are talking to the right person. There is an active scheme out there right now where scammers pm you quickly and pretend to be the person selling items and get you to transfer money by the friends and family method. paypal policy is no refunds on friends and family method. bleh. look at the usernames!!!

the scammer has a pretty smart scheme going.
the REAL scammer is a user by the name of
Greywills

I am sorry to hear this happen to a good brother . I sent you a PM and Pay Pal will give you all your money back ! Smart move !

Sorry to hear you were cheated by this scammer, VikingTrad3r. If you funded your purchase through a means that will stand behind you, you should get the charge against you reversed.
Most sellers on the site are honest, but the few crooks spoil the process for everybody.
There are several regular scammers who keep registering new user IDs on the site and then soliciting community members who have posted WTB threads. We have multiple measures in place to identify and ban the scammers, but the quickest is when community members report their suspicions to us.
The scammer was Greywills, not bsallie99.
In this instance, the record shows you got the scam PM from Greywills at 2:17 p.m. EDT yesterday. Moderators got a software alert about potential suspicious activity by Greywills, verified he was a scammer, banned him and sent out warnings to everybody on his PM distribution list at 6:39 a.m. EDT today. We got a reported PM from you on the scammer at 8:52 a.m. EDT today.
Going forward, for your benefit and that of others, please review the posted guidelines on how to avoid scammers trying to sell items they don't have:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nsactions.html
bsallie99's for sale thread has effectively been hijacked and has become a scammer alert about Greywills, so I'm moving it to the Transactions Feedback section, where it will be easier to find going forward by those researching a seller they may be suspicious about.
bsallie99, please repost your for sale thread.

Not sure who Dan Tanna is but yeah. The guy who pm’d me wasnt even the same account as the poster of the original ad in the for sale thread!
In my case, i wanted the rims BADLY. (still do) I also run a company and had 100 things going on that day. I had already checked out the OP history and trusted his account. So when the PM note came in, yeah, it was from a different username (greywills—) and i did NOT even notice. all i saw was the subject of the pm which he had copied the text in the posted ad title and used it as the subject for the PM.
In the body of the pm he says “text me here: scam number” and then boom i had left the CF comms platform, switched to text, didnt even know it, never went back to my PM’s until later, to figure out how i allowed myself to get scammed, and thats when i realized the usernames were different.
I have chalked it all up to a good lesson learned. I have *not* filed a claim because paypal clearly says in thier regs that when u send by “friends and family” there is no recourse.
Live n learn!!!
Funny thing is the OP with the rims i dont think wants to talk with me. I want the rims (demonstrated by me sending money to a complete scammer) but he wont talk with me on the phone. Ive now got a policy **now after this** that if i cannot speak with a person i will not send money, no worries, no offense taken.
Cheers and yeah, i had my “deserved it” scam moment.
the pm i received:
note not the same username as the OP!

It's a 70s or very early 80s TV Detective based in Vegas. Think show was actually called VEGAS. . Hope you get the money back and hope the scammer gets hit by a bus. I hate that crap. Just gotta be alert. Thanks for the heads up !!

And many people don’t know this, but his original car on the show was a mid-year Corvette, not the T Bird the show is remembered for.
