How Rick hendrick chevy in ATL screwed me and others
First off let me start with. I along with many others placed a $1000 deposit with Rick hendrick Chevrolet in Atlanta. This was a pre order list. I then get called on July 7 that my order is ready to be submitted. And that I needed to provide my info for the additional $4000 deposit locking my spot in the allocation. The form says will be a total of $5000 deposit to be applied towards my order. Car is selling at MSRP. I know after complaining about not having a order number or anything get a call. Mr. may our general manager has decided that all our orders will be sold at $5000 above MSRP. Damn Im pissed. I tell them to shove it. Now after waiting over a month on preorder with what I thought was a good dealer. I will have to find another dealer and get in line behind many others.
This is just a warning how I was treated at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Atlanta.

Add to the reasons I would never buy a first model year (again).

Do you have anything in writing? I had my dealer whom I have purchased several new cars from email me my deal, so we are on the same page, and there will be no question when the car comes in.
To me you should stand behind your word, but in a business transaction its smart to have something in writing.
Sorry to hear this happened to you.

Was the deposit non-refundable? Payment down on the vehicle should "lock-in" the agreed pricing. Any changes thereafter should not affect the original agreement. Changes on their part should alleviate concerns of a refund.
Editied for after comment:
Now we have to hear from the other side to meet in the middle.

Scraping the splitter.
Some feel that the demand for a new model gives them leverage to screw people like this. All it does it **** off people who usually remember the bad things a dealer did.
I recently bought a very in demand new car, and I queried the sales manager as to why they weren't marking over MSRP like "most" other dealers. His response was very simple..."why should I **** off a customer who might come back in a year or two when the new model comes out, or when he wants to buy an SUV for his wife?". It seemed like sound logic to me.

I got 2 deposits down with credible Forum dealers. The written agreements where in my hand in a few days describing excatly the deal. $1000 down, refundable, car at MSRP and my number on their list.
Why do people settle for anything less? It is a business contract.......... get it in writting and read the damn thing!!!

Had pricing agreed too. hell they even sent me the spreadsheet to build the car. Same one as on here. Im sure there are others that they are doing this too as well. They want the cars on the lot not on order forms. A lot easier to get the market adjustment as they are calling it. Anyone have Rick Hendricks office or cell number. He will be getting a letter from me at the least.

File report with BBB, yelp and everyone else. Tell Hendricks what you're doing and tell him you're going to the TV stations too.

Lesson learned .. My deposit was $$2,500 .. with Rick Conti
from Columbus , Ohio .. Google Rick Cinti Corvettes.
He will have you an order today . Third largest allocation
in the nation . My friend from Hilton Head went to Hendricks
and would not guarantee an order number or price which is
now above MSRP .. He ordered one from Rick Conti in one day.
I Ordered Night Race Blue / Kalahari
2LT - NPP - AUTO = expect late Aug. or early Sept. delivery.
I am at 3300 - due for production soon .
Vette Ed ( Sold my 2010 Grand Sport in March )

Unfortunately I think the dealer had every right to increase the price even if there is a signed contract. Every car contract that I've seen has a clause the says something like, the dealer can change the price and the buyers only recourse is to get his deposit refunded if that's what the dealer does.

moved to appropriate forum and irrelevant commentary removed....if you are gonna post in a dispute thread keep it within the guidelines...rehashing old issues and other dealers etc doesn't qualify as pertinent....

I would understand if they quoted an actual price (numbers) then the car went up from GM beyond their control. But MSRP allows for any changes incurred to them.
Regardless of whether it is legal or not, I would have a problem with a dealer telling me list and then changing it. The position it puts a buyer is not good. Suddenly a buyer has to get in line somewhere else after counting on having one at an agreed upon price.
The other issue is that as long as I have been on this forum (12 years) we have always been led to believe that "forum vendors" are held to a higher standard of business practices.
