Problem with Shop: Precision Motorsports in Tampa
*Update heard back from my contact at the shop. They promised to make this right finishing my car within the next day or two MAX.
I will post back!
Guys I am having a problem with this shop where my supercharged/forged showcar C5 is being worked on. It has been there since the end of November to change out a headunit! Now there were some complications finding the right one but it's been delayed beyond belief and Im sickened by the lack of communication and procrastination of the shop.
I have the number on the website and the number of an employee but they all go to the same voicemail and I have gotten a call back one out of every 4 times I call maybe a week later each time.
It was supposed to be shipped back to Vortech before Christmas and get back to us just after the new year. Vortech would take 3 weeks to turn around and I'd have the supercharger back at the shop ready to install by the end of January very latest. Here we are 1/4 of the way past March and I'm getting toyed with.
I have sold my daily driver because I expected to have the car back end of January and the shop just keeps ignoring me.
Id have to take a day off of work or half day to drive to the shop because its an hour away from me. Also having no car kind of ruins that so Id have to take a cab like the last time I did it just to see what is happening.
What do you guys suggest?
What should I do!? I am very frustrated, this is pathetic.
*checked my CC statement, I was charged in full for the entire R&R labor cost of the headunit on December 7th, even though it was only removed and not reinstalled, and still remains that way three months later.
*On January 17th I was charged in full and then some for the work that was done on my supercharger. Vortech billed precision and they charged me.
*The rebuilt supercharger was received by Precision on February 17th, exactly 3 weeks ago. It was a Friday I believe the following Monday the 20th I should have had MY vehicle back so I can enjoy it, finish work on it myself and sell it or do whatever I want. Had asked the shop that they not charge me this amount on the previous CC they had and for them to call me

Sounds like bull crap to me man if it was mine I would just go get it and put the head unit on my self. That is if that is it but I do agree with you all that time and still no car. When did they get the unit back in the shop. I hope you have not paid them a bunch of money... Robert

Man, go get your car! Call a flatbed operator and pick it up! Call the shop ahead of time and carry cash if you need to pay up for work already done in case they claim a mechanics lien. If everything is OK, go get it. Call the local Law Enforcement agency that has jurisdiction and tell them your plan to retrieve YOUR property have them on speed dail in case there is some monkey business that happens when you get there.
I hate places that take your stuff but won't come thru or admit to mucking things up.

Since Bob left it is a different shop.
If I find myself in that area anytime soon I will swing by and see that I can find out for you.
PM me the details about your car and who you talked to. I'll see what I can do. I would also call vortec and see if your head unit was ever sent to them.

Thanks all, it's just bs no matter how you look at it. I am sure they'll blame it on me and the parts not getting there quick and other things in the way but how do you explain not answering the phone?
If I go down there Now I'm going to flip out on someone, I know I will lose it
I want to resolve this with the shop they have been friendly but that doesn't mean **** to getting my car back done right and having good service

If you goals now are "getting my car back done right and having good service", face the fact you have already failed on number two. You have not had good service and no indication you will soon. Cut your loses and go get the car asap and take it somewhere else or do it yourself you have the capability.

Good luck getting this resolved. I think I would go to the shop, retrieve the car and get it done elsewhere.

I hope to work it out with the shop.
As in they put my car back together in the next day and do a perfect job.
I will report back on the resolution and if they made it right, thanks everyone for the advice.

Apparently after trying to work on the car two weeks after the SC arrived, there is an oil line they saw was bad and need to wait on that for another week or two. That could have been and should have been spotted and ordered 3 1/2 months ago when the SC was removed.
Admittedly there was a slow start and Vortech did have it for about a month including shipping, but it's been pushed out too long now with a lack of communication.

Good luck.
Comunication is very important when dealing with shops.
On both sides.

Thanks guys
I'm more concerned about the condition of my $50,000 investment as a whole.
I have hundreds of hours of labor in it myself and all my money. Probably paid $500 in insurance while it's been sitting.
Depreciation, losing buyers to sell it to, enjoyment of driving, stress, All kinds of things....
