AZ- Vacation Ideas
Hey - Az Group Members
My wife and I just rented a townhouse for the month of April just
south of Tuscon.
Any ideas for great places to eat and things that we "have" to do while
in your beautiful state?
Thanks Mike

Seeing that your are in the Southern part of Arizona, here are a few.
- Kartchner Caverns
- Grand Canyon - Couple of days possibly staying in Flagstaff.
- Sedona
Hopefully the Southern AZ members can recommend where to eat and local sites to see.

You can do a day trip of Tombstone and Bisbee. Tombstone is very much a "tourist trap" destination as apposed to being historically correct, but still worth the visit. Bisbee is a mining town down on the border, and it's nice if you can get in on a mine tour.
A really good 5 day trip would be from Tucson up to Globe, over to Show Low, then to the Petrified Forest, over to Flagstaff (Meteor crater, sunset crater, and other sites in the area), then up to the Grand Canyon, back down Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Prescott and Wikenburg. That will show you about everything in Arizona - from low elevation deserts to 8500FT pine forests, the Grand Canyon and many places in between.
For the local sights and flavors of Tucson, try getting ahold of the local Corvette club in that area. http://www.southernarizonacorvettes.com - check their calendar also to see what is going on "Vette wise" while you are out here.

If you get down to either the caverns or Tombstone area you've got to stop at Maggie Mays Steakhouse in Sierra Vista. Best steak I've had in years! It's just east and then north of the main gate a Ft. Huachucha Army Base.

If we really wanted to "bust your chops" we would have mentioned the mountian lion issue.
BSeery,
I am on the lion's side. Given the choice, I would rather have lions in lieu of some of my nieghbors.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and replies.
Cant wait to get out of this cold. Wife likes cats maybe even mountain ones?
Mary-I am planning on CI6- but #1 son is in his second term of law school and has decided to spent the next 2 years of his life in a library. My wife has agreed to come along this year, however on the last long trip we took in the vette she complained it was a little to loud and actually wanted to put her feet up on the dash. Might have it worked out by May. Look forward to seeing you and Brian then .
