Houston car buyers - You may be entitled to a refund...
Here's the just of it. If you bought a car from certain dealers, you may have been charged a "Consumer Services" fee ranging from $200 to $450. The attorney general has won refunds from these dealers.
I bought mine from Landmark and noticed that I was charged $299.50 for "Consumer Services", but Landmark wasn't listed so I called the attorney generals office. They told me to go ahead and fill out the online consumer complaint form and they would see about adding additional dealers to the list. Here's a link to the online complaint form: https://www.oag.state.tx.us/forms/cpd/cpd_getcounty.php
I hope this is new to at least some of you and hopefully this type of BS charge is put to a stop.
I know CorvetteSSX has purchased enough cars from landmark to probably get back enough to buy a new one.
I bought an '04 'Vette & '04 TrailBlazer from Bill Heard Chevy and was charged $299.50 on each vehicle for "Customer Services" that came with a coupon book. My wife and I decided we didn't need any stupid coupon books, so we took them back and demanded our money back.(I was pizzed about some issues on the cars) They refunded the $599.00 without any questions. Then I heard this announcement on the news, I figure they knew they were screwing people and that this judgement was coming down the pike.

I submitted the online complaint form on Sept 28 and today (Oct 5) I got a letter from the Attorney General's office with a copy of the letter that they sent to Landmark Cheverolet. The letter strongly encouraged them to refund the $299.50 and requested a reply within 14 days.
I'm not overly optimistic I'll get the money, but for the little effort it took on my part, I think it's worth a shot for $299.50.
Anyway, even if the dealer you purchased your car is not listed on the Attorney General list, you can still fill out the online complaint form and potentially get the BS "Consumer Services" fee refunded.

Final update.....
I just got the check from Landshark in the mail today for $300.00 (woohoo 50 cents extra!).
Anyway, the system works so if you paid this BS charge then either fill out the online complaint form on the attorney general's website that I posted in my initial post or call your dealership and talk to customer service and you'll get it refunded.
I bought my C5 from Landmark and then a buddy of mine told me about Marvin's report on the "Consumer Services" problem. About two days later I went to Landmark and they gave me the full refund. I guess they didn't want any more trouble than they already had.

I just called Landshark about a refund. They politely said bring in my "coupon book" and sales order, sign a form, and they would mail the check in about 3 days.

All is rocking along OK.I'm planning on making the Vettes and V-Twins cruise next Sat. and still pondering the thought of a different exhaust and a short throw shifter. You should try to make it next Saturday.

Just got around to reading this and yes, I found 3 purchase orders with the charge from Landmark and Bill Heard. Looks like I have a busy Saturday coming up to claim refunds.
