[DFW] Anyone want to do mods this weekend?
I'm in NE Dallas (Allen) and I've been stacking up pieces/parts to install for a couple months. I have headers/cats/catback to install, but I need a lift for that. Anyone have one available? I also have a set of rear brake ducts to install on my coupe as well as caliper paint that needs applying. I'll offer up my install services for anyone that can help me with mine. I definitely need help with the headers, mainly just moral support for the rest - especially when I start cutting the side of my car for the ducts Saturday the 2nd or Sunday the 3rd both work for me. My wife is taking the little one and heading off to see her folks, so I'm single and crazy for the whole weekend Maybe a Hooters or Bone Daddy's run to top it all off???
Brutha wish I could help you out this weekend but I am really busy helping my sister move into her new house and repainting her old house for a rental place.
I installed a set of rear brake duct vents on Jigsaw's Vert a few months back.
It's a really easy install just make sure you measure twice before you cut.
I would sug. you use a dremmel(?) and a drill bit that cuts in any direction (rotozip) that is what I used and it is really quick.
Make sure to have a shop vac. and as you cut have a friend hold the nozzle of the vac. next to the cutting bit this will save you from getting glass dust everywhere.

Oh, yeah - that's what I want to see Sunday night... I'm picking up one of those roto zip saws to make the cuts, and I've got the templates ready to go to make sure I mark the spots just right. Good info on the dust! I think I remember a post with pics a few months back from someone that had done this - what a mess! I think I'll do it outside if I have the opportunity.
I would also say, now would be the best time to clean the rear inner fender wells.
You will have to remove them to attach the ducts.
Also when you install the ducts that cool the cal. don't worry when the car is jacked up in the air the ducts will touch the rear tires as soon as you get the car back on the ground they will clear.

Vette FX - sorry I haven't replied before now - "Server Too Busy", etc. etc.... you know the drill. I'm thinking that the header and pipe install won't happen since I haven't found a lift. I don't think it's anything I want to try while squeezed under the car. BUT - I'm going to do the brake ducts for sure, and as long as the tires are off, paint the calipers while I'm there. I was really thinking hard about a little lowering, but I'm not sure with the F55 suspension - I've heard good and bad there. I'd love the help and support, but what can I help you with? I was hoping that we could get a few folks who were waiting and waiting like me to get some mods done, no matter how small and have a day of it, helping out when someone needed a hand, etc. No one else?!?
ill try to get ahold of a lift after hours on the weekend a friend of mine works as manager for goodyear.we have chatted several times about doing this.I have my son this weekend but ill see what i can do to make it happen in the next few weeks. Not this weekend but its a possibility next weekend.some places charge about 80 to install each side maybe they could hook you up.Try RPM or speedwerkz in lewisville .

NOT-MEE - If I could get these headers installed for under $100 a side, I'd sure pay to have it done. One less thing to mess with! I would like to do some testing on the cat-back part of the pipes, which is why I want a lift. You've seen the pipes I have now - they might be really loud with headers. Not sure, but maybe. I'd like the opportunity to swap pipes with some modded stockers and see. Anyway, the ducts are ready to go, and the caliper paint is sitting next to me as I type. next weekend I'm out of town to see my folks in KC, but the weekend after that (17th?) would be excellent if it could happen. I'll give RPM and Speedwerkz a call also. Thanks!
Got your message was out for a bite to eat. Didnt know is was suppose to rain to I had to do some xtreme (with in reason ) driving. I think i got about 3 drops on my car.... no worries though 3 drops of dirty texas rain wont penetrate 5 layers of zanio.

Had a GREAT day - thanks Vette FX for the help!
Got the Z06 ducts installed - for those that haven't done this, it's a piece of cake. The only time you wince is when you take the Dremel and grind into the side of your car for the first time... I did it a little more neatly than the posted instructions - if you have one of those plunge cutters/roto-zip saws, you can hold a vacuum extension right up next to the cutting bit and there will be no mess at all on your car or on the floor when you are finished. No dust to sweep up, nothing! Then when I was done with the ducts (took an hour to do both sides), I painted the calipers red, then dropped the car about 3/4 inches front and back by just cranking down the stock bolts. Didn't want to do too much more since I have the magnetic ride and a bit of a dip at the end of the driveway. It rides great as it sits now, and is noticeably lower than a stock car when side by side. then it was off to the Extreme Corvettes car show for the evening. What a great day!!!

It's yours. If you don't have the Dremel bit, you can use mine. It was easy!!! Let me know and I'll help out. I'm in town until Thursday night, back late Sunday.
