Default (Phx) So, who is up for Racedeck Install?

Hey everyone,

I ordered the Racedeck from Motomat this morning. Im getting an awesome deal. I can't wait to get started. It should be here in about 2 to 4 days. (Coming from Salt Lake via UPS)

I was wondering if anyone was up to helping me install it once I get it. I was thinking maybe Sunday. I know the Poker Run is Saturday, but I will supply drinks, (reg and "other" & pizza) if that is cool. It should only take one day to install. The hard part will be moving all the vehicles out of the garage.

I'm looking to start early Sunday morning (between 8 and 10 probably.) Probably closer to 10am. Let me know if anyone is interested. If not, no biggie, but either way, I will get it done this weekend. Its supposed to be a snap (literally) to install. So, no huffing and puffing and no messes or glue or anything. The reason I am asking is because I have to lay 323 tiles (maybe more depending on if I decide to go wall to wall or leave it 2 inches off the wall all the way around. (I haven't decided yet, but I ordered enough to do either way.) Plus, after laying the tile, I gotta install 72 edge pieces and the 4 corners. This is going to look soooo cool!

Remember, this is a surprise for Mark, so its to be kept on the DL. Thanks guys and gals.

I would love to help because I intend to do it in my garage too. You know the old I'll scratch your back and you scratch mine thing. Besides it would be great to learn on someone else's and then I could do it right. I will check with the wife. Might be a little tight seeing as I'll be gone all day Sat for the Poker Run. I'll let you know!

Timing is not good for me and Kelly, sorry. We start doggy sitting on Friday. Will make the poker run though. Week after we are hooking up with friends in NM at the ballon fesitval.

Balloon Festival

Good luck, wish I could be a fly on the wall for that one. I'd leave a two inch gap around. I'm assuming the gap will be filled in with a border of some sort.

You must have been talking to my sisters!
They all know I'm a Beer Ho
I wired one's garage and another's basement and the labor was free as long as there was a cold one there when I took a break!!
If I leave my place around 9:00, I should get to your place about 9:30-45?? I'm at McDowell and 101 east loop.
PM me the address and I'll make sure I'm there by 9:30!

How's that??

Keith, I think I am going to put the edging on around the motomat, so that is why I will leave the 2" around. I plan to actually paint the baseboards red and black. It is going to be very cool! Especially with the black cabinets I plan to have installed.

Ken, sure you wont be tired of hanging with me by Sunday?
Sunday at 930-945-ish is fine. Whats your poison as far as cold ones? I'll be sure to have plenty.

13223 W. Stella Lane
Litchfield Park, AZ 85340
hm:623-536-5773 cell: 602-579-3815

Easiest way is Loop 101 around to the Glendale Rd/Luke Air Force Base exit. Take Glendale West to Dysart. Turn left on Dysart, (there will be a pizza hut on the southwest corner there) follow three blocks to Rose Lane. Turn right, make your next (1st right) onto 131st, follow around to the left (street name changes to Citrus), then make your first right onto 131st again. Follow street around to the left again. You will see the mailboxes and the street changes to STELLA. I will have many black vehicles parked in the driveway. lol.

Anyone else who just wants to stop by to see whats up, your more than welcome. I don't expect it to take longer than 4 hours or so.

You guys ROCK! Thank you,

Tanya

Hope Mark doesn't find out you have all these guys coming over.

Typical of a military wife when her husband is TDY

Seriously, I'm sure he'll love it.

Does he need me to take his bike out for spin, you know, keep all the seals lubed

Hey now, as far as all the guys coming over, I think he would rather it be You's guys than my DSM buddies anyday. lol.

As a matter of fact I have been starting and rolling his zx-10r once a week. If I was tall enough, I sure as hell would take it for a drive, but Im too short. lol. I did ask him to stay off the Southwest section of the Forum until he gets home and he promised he would.

So, we are in the clear for now. I just wish he would get home already.

Okay, so, who knows a good place that installs garage cabinets? I have a few calls to make tomorrow, but Im open to suggestions.

Later,

Tanya

If you are buying the cabinets, the install isn't that hard. Just need a couple of bodies. Drill/screwdriver, screws, measuring and level and wallah!!

Actually, I was hoping to find a company that does the whole shabang. Comes out, does the estimates and measuring and installation. And they gotta be black. lol. But you are right, should I have bought the cabinets already, then I know a few of Marks "air force" buddies who owe me a favor and I would have called.

But as far as the flooring install, I know a lot of you would get a kick out of that, and honestly, it is something I have wanted to do for me also, soooo....who better to ask than my Corvette enthusiast pals. I trust you guys.

Hey Tanya!

I have a guy that does cabinetry for me at work - he is excellent, but not inexpensive - PM me and I'll give you his info.

If you're looking for help on Sunday, I don't think I've got anything going on in the A.M. Heck, my wife doesn't usually even wake up until 10:00 - especially after all day with the poker run and the pavillions! (anybody tells her I said that, I'll deny it!)

I'll copy your info from the post above, and unless there's something lurking on the calendar at home that I don't know about - I'll make the trip ALLLLLL THE WAAAAAY from the East Valley!

Tanya, would help but my 8.5 month pregnant wife likes to keep me close these days

I saw you are going to lay them middle first ? This could cause some problems. The first corner MUST line up, as the tiles get too heavy to move easily once they are laid down.

I installed mine in about 5 hours. I actually drew the entire garage out before I started. I would pick a corner and start from there and work the garage like an "L" from the first corner. The tiles can "sway" as you lay them, so I kept a rubber hammer to bang them back to line them up.

Default Important Update

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Motomat is running behind in shipping their orders. I called to see why I had not received my flooring yesterday as I was supposed to and they said that it had not even been shipped yet.

The new ETA is Tuesday! UGHERS!!! So, the Sunday plan is off. I apologize for the inconvenience and I wholeheartedly appreciate those who planned to come by and supervise or hang or eat or drink or maybe even watch me make an ass of myself trying to install the flooring. lol.

I have postponed the install until SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16th. SAME PLAN, DIFFERENT DAY. If anyone is still interested to come by on that date, then you are more than welcome. All I know, is I got to get it done that weekend, as MARK will be back the next Saturday on the 23rd.

I will try to IM/PM everyone and talk to everyone at the Poker Run to let you know that the install is canceled, but if everyone could pass the word that would be cool. Thanks.

Tanya

Not I. Having a hard time getting my lazy arse to paint our garage. Weather is perfect for it to. Most likely heading to PV tomorrow to spend some of Kellys hard earned money

Have fun
