Here's a shot you might want to use in court. This is a Houston Police car at the airport 12/13/03.
What you guys fail to take into account is that virtually every state has a state statute that exempts police, fire and other emergency vehicles from state traffic and vehicle laws while in the performance of their duties. That's why:
fire trucks don't get cited for running red lights
cops can break the speed limit
emergency vehs can park anywhere w/o getting a parking ticket
If you think this pic will get you out of a ticket, take a look at the next mail veh you see. They only run one plate. Sorry if I burst your bubble CP. :D
Re: For the guys that got No Front Plate tickets (CP)

1. fire trucks don't get cited for running red lights
If they are just out driving around running red lights then yes they can be cited. They can only run red lights going to an emergency.
2. cops can break the speed limit
Same applies to them if they are not in route to an emergency.
3. emergency vehs can park anywhere w/o getting a parking ticket
That may be the case, but if they are out shopping then they still have to abide by the laws. They may not get a ticket because who they are, but that does not make it right.
Not sure where you get your information, but they all still have to follow the laws.

1. Do you stop every fire truck to ask if they're on a call?
2. How do you know what the cop is doing. Have you ever stopped one that was speeding to ask? Probably just whined when they didn't get there fast enough to your call.
3. When that cop is parked at the mall is he shopping or handling a shoplifting call or doing a patrol of the mall for what we call "mall rats"
I got my information from 23 years in LE and work daily with cops now. I just get tired of people that whine about the cop or fire truck that goes 10 over the speed limit not having a clue as to why they're doing it. I have found more often than not the people that make stupid statements and jump to conclusions are the ones that probably violate the law the most. The law abiding people are delighted that we have cops and firemen out their protecting our families and figure they're doing their jobs. :smash:

Good one CP. I bet he's parked in a loading zone also!! Probably protecting our safety by making sure nobody is trying to steal any sandwiches or coffee from the airport snack bar inside.
I know I sleep much better at night knowing that our Police are stopping vehicles with no front license plates.
Re: For the guys that got No Front Plate tickets (eddie44)
Well here in Dallas a few years ago there was a patrol car that hit someone. The City was sued has he was not running lights or siren, the City lost. They may be able to get away with more than a normal person, but the correct question is, is it Legal?
Just because they do it and do not get in trouble for it does not make it legal. I have never seen a Fire Truck run through a red light that was not running lights and siren.
Re: For the guys that got No Front Plate tickets (Jasonty)
Military is a whole different story and has nothing to do with the local Police Dept. following State laws.
When I was stationed in Calif. you had to be 21 to drink in town, but only had to be 18 on base so you can not add military into this. They have their own set of rules.
