Default (AZ) 50th Anniversary car display

Thunder vette set and Lawley Cheverolet will be hosting a Corvette car display in celebration of Corvettes 50th Anniversary on the 28th of June at Lawley Cheverolet in Sierra Vista, AZ. All Corvette owners are welcome to come and partake.

This is not a sanctioned event, just good fun and conversation with other enthusiasts.

Contact Debra at stingray74@theriver.com for more info.

I'm pretty booked up this summer. getting my daughter into NAU, and family vacations...This sounds like a cool road trip, but I won't be able to make it.

Be sure to post some pictures here for us to see.....

Isn't it like 132 degrees in summer down there??

If not, I may try to make it. Depends on work right now.

It's been getting in the mid 80's, no promises though. It don't get near as hot as up north (where you are at). Thought I was gonna die of a heat stroke in Casa Grande, had to come down south to cool down.

Come on down and see the vettes, to bad you are not bringing yours. Is it in pieces? I have the new Power Effects Exhaust system coming tomorrow and Tuesday, It's going on wendsday! Have An engine for the 74, but don't want to rip it apart till all this summer activity is over, take my time and redo the engine bay and all.

We will probably come down for this.

Can I get directions from Phoenix. I know how to make it to town, but need directions from there.

Also, how many are expected, what time does it start, and will you have a cell phone with you so I can find you at the show ?

My wife and some of her friends are going down to Nogales the same day. I will probably cruise down at the same time and go to Sierra Vista, and then hook up with the wife on the way back. I wanna stop and see a friend in Tucson on the way back as well, so I don't know if I would be a good cruising partner.

I will be in the Toyota as the C3 is getting fuel injection installed during these warm summer days. It won't be ready for months.

Hey TUCSON group -- anyone going down to Sierra Vista ???

Hope all can come down. BSEERY you can check out the 74 and two years of work. Still have engine and transmission to do (I work backwards (lol). A 327 and a 700R4 conversion, might just do frame off.
the work starts again after this event. Been doing all the work on the 96 latley, getting it ready for a cruise to South Dakota.

they said cars start showing up around 9 a.m.

What time you thinking of leaving ?

According to Yahoo maps it's 175 miles each way - (3 hours the way you drive, 4 for me (I stop and get out at least once every 2 hours)).

I will probably leave around 8 ish, or when ever I get up and moving. Be down there before noon.

Most of our club will be there from 9 to 5, some are coming late and some leaving early. Give me a call if you get lost or need anything.

Just got home -- after a stop in Tucson to see a friend and a gas stop in Casa Grande, I am home.

Just so people know why I didn't take my Corvette, there were two reasons.
#1 was the fact that the top end of the motor is off in preparation for a fuel injection install.

here is reason #2.

Here are some quick photos I took.

oh -- and I forgot.

Something that my mind was cooking up on the way home......

October 25th or November 1st --- Tombstone Corvette show.

I need to get a hold of someone in the town of Tombstone to see what it would take to let us park the cars on the main street (normally blocked off to vehicle traffic) and to do a Corvette show. I think we could get people from Phoenix, Tucson, and of course Sierra Vista to show up for that event.
Say maybe - 50-75 cars ???

What do you all think ?? Ask around with the southern crowd and let me know what you all think. If someone knows anyone important at Tombstone, let me know.

BSEERY

The 31st thru the 2nd is when we are having our annual event down here. Halloween theme this year. Concours, Autocross, Rally.

http://www.thundervetteset.com/Thunder_2003.html

I can get you a Point of Contact for Tombstone, We have had the street closed down for us one before. If memory serves me right it was the Chamber of Commerce that we contacted (someone will have the name in our club). Not bringing the car was not a big deal, I had a good time BSing with you, everyone thought it was real neat that you took your time to come down and see our Vettes. Thanks again!!

ICULUKN-C5
Wish you could of made it down, I played your car up, had people excited to see it.
