Tour Updates! (New Info Posted 4/30/03)
The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, presented by Chevrolet and co-sponsored by Flowmaster, will roar into Nashville, TN on Friday May 30, as INA Insurance hosts the first Cruise night to kick off this year's tour. The "Kentucky Headhunters," courtesy of Flowmaster, will provide the music as Opryland provides the backdrop for this eight day, seven city tour.
On the road from Nashville to Memphis, the "Great Outdoors Festival" will provide free admission to their event to Hot Rod Power Tour vehicles. This will provide a nice diversion to this year's trek. The Memphis Cruise Night (May 31) will be held in Southaven, MS at the Desoto Civic Center. A carnival and concert will be held at the same time to celebrate the Power Tour.
Jackson, MS (June 1) is the next cruise night and the MS State Fairgrounds and Coliseum will provide a BIG stop for the tour.
Almost everyone on tour will be looking forward to the Monday, June 2 stop in the Crescent City. The Fairgrounds Race Track, only minutes from Canal Street, will play host as the tour motors into New Orleans. Canal Place Parking will allow Hot Rod Power Tour participants a place to park overnight, only $15, and extra security will be added for your vehicles protection.
A lunch stop is planned on Tuesday, June 3 at the No Problem Raceway, in Belle Rose, LA, 70341. This will be a nice watering hole as the tour heads west to Lake Charles, LA.
Details and background on this racetrack maybe found at http://www.noproblemraceway.com.
On the night of the 3rd , Edelbrock will support the tour as the Cruise night sponsor. Vic, Camee and the Edelbrock crew have a busy evening planned for all tour participants.
Wednesday, June 4 , will find the tour picking up speed on the road to Shreveport, LA. The Horseshoe Casino has a lunch stop planned. After rodders have picked up some extra coin, it is on to the Red River Raceway for a little quarter mile fun. This track is located just north of the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area.
The strech drive will come up on Thursday, June 5 as the Tour moves into the Lone Star State. Look for plenty of action as Painless Performance puts on the final Cruise Night event at The Ball Park in Arlington, Texas. Flowmaster will present an evening with the "Bellamy Brothers" as the tour draws to a close.
On Friday morning it is a return to The Ball Park at Arlington for the Long Hauler Awards and the announcement for the 2004 Hot Rod Power Tour.
Additional PRIMEDIA titles plan Power Tour activities.
Corvette Fever Magazine will honor the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette during the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, presented by Chevrolet and co-sponsored by Flowmaster. At the morning Driver's Meeting, held each day at a local Wal Mart, Corvette owners will have a special parking area and the Corvette Fever crew will have a couple of surprises to celebrate this milestone anniversary.
MOPAR Muscle Magazine has secured a special "car corral" to hold the MOPAR INVASION. This year during the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, presented by Chevrolet and co-sponsored by Flowmaster, MOPAR Muscle Magazine and Year One will team up to present a special MOPAR Award during every Cruise Night. The winner of this award will have a special parking area in the Year One booth and will receive lifetime bragging rights as becoming one of the few and the proud MOPAR Muscle Award Winners.

Anyone who doesn't go is really missing out. I'm in New Orleans on the Tour right now, and I've met a bunch of really nice fellow forum members on the trip (started in Nashville).
Almost 1200 Long Haulers (going the entire distance) and every kind of car you ever dreamed of having.
A must make event, and it has been free admission every where we have been.

So what's happening in Arlington and when on the 5th and 6th? If I come out it would have to be after work, so would it be worth it or will it be mostly over that late in the day?

They're supposed to arrive sometime during the day on June 5th in Arlington.
I think the main stuff happens in the evening on June 5th. Anyone interested in cruising over there as a group Thursday after work?

I'll be there! I was supposed to run the tour with the Vette but the engine died a week before the tour started. I hope to meet some local forum members as well as those on the tour. Look for me in a black Speed Direct.com t-shirt.

Cool! Maybe I'll run into you. This will be my first time there. Where does everyone typically park? Is there a special section for Vettes? I thought I read somewhere (maybe on their website) about a Corvette gathering thing, but I don't have any details.

There's an article in todays Dallas Morning News about it. I think they said it will be about 2:30 PM (Thursday) before the cars are setup for people to see.
I think I'm going to get there around 3 PM (driving from Ennis, TX). I'll be wearing a light gray t-shirt with small C5 logo on the front. Hope to see you all there!
