(Austin) two upcoming events and one not so upcoming
The Longhorn Corvette Club is hosting a sweatheart rally this Saturday (2/14). You will need a car and a sweaterheart (or just somebody to sit in the passanger seat). We are meeting at 10 a.m. at Don Hewlett Chevrolet in Georgetown. You will be given clues that will ultmately lead you to a destination where we will eat lunch. The event will take place rain or shine so feel free to bring a non Vette.
On Sunday, February 23, the Longhorn Corvette Club is hosting a driving school. The class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. There will be about thirty minutes of class time led by legendary NCCC racer Tom Moore (at least legendary in my mind). This will be followed by a couple of hours of teaching and autocrossing. If you do not have a Vette, come run what you have. Last year we had a couple of Cameros and this year we will have at least one Porsche.
Mark it on your calendar now. The Longhorn Corvette Club annual Vette show (Corvettes at the Diamond) will be held August 15-17. Proceeds from the show benefit the Pegasus School for Boys in Lockhart. Last year we had over 170 Corvettes. This year we will have a burn out contest and a private party hosted by the Round Rock Express following the show.
If you have any questions regarding these events, please feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks for the update. I am going to try to make it on the 23 for the driving school, seeing as Tom was kind enough to grace us with his presence at our club meeting a couple of weeks ago, and personally invite all of us. And I will definitely try to make it to Corvettes at the Diamond in August.

What are the specifics on the driving school? Just show up and pay?
Hope to see you there.

Can't beat free ... I'll try to make it. My wife got me a gift certificate to a Panoz track day for our anniversary and I need to learn to drive my new 6- speed

It is a good idea to bring a helmet. Just bring what you would bring to autocross.
I think I see the sun breaking through.

There will be plenty of helmets to use. In fact, you can use mine. I usually autocross in shorts and a t-shirt (depending on weather). :steering:

I also had a great time. This was my first Autocross with the Vette. I was very impressed with the way it handled.
